Sufferin’ Succotash

SylvesterThe above words can only begin to describe how I feel about my inability to write this week. I am experiencing a very extreme case of writer’s block.

I watched cursors flash.

I sat and stared at a screen, blindingly white.

I couldn’t even come up with something clever to blog about.

Nothing. Came. Out. Of. My. Head.

I’ve never really had it happen to this extent before. I whiled away the hours looking at Pinterest and pinning home décor and sayings instead. It was really quite mindless, actually. I tried to motivate myself, but alas, even now as I sit here writing this, all I feel is quite…empty. Even WordPress’s daily prompts weren’t helping me.

My poor characters in my novel are probably wondering what the hell has happened to me. To Francesca, Joe, and Gus—I’m so sorry I’ve left you hanging. You probably want to know what’s going to happen to you in the novel as much as I do, but I’m not sure when I’ll get my mojo back to finish you up. Be patient. These things take time.

I haven’t ever gone a week without blogging. This is a record for me. A sad, pathetic little one.

However, I am hopeful today’s day out at Oriole Park at Camden Yards watching the Orioles play their season home opener turns things around. After all, I am writing about baseball this time, so with any hope, I’ll become inspired.

Sufferin’ succotash…let’s hope something brings me back.
